So MUCH in a MONTH!

June came and went so fast, and for us it felt even faster because we have been so busy!  With so much going on its almost too hard to keep track! Here is a list of all the cool things we have been up too!

~We had the pleasure of attending San Fernando's rising of the "Bandera Azul" event! The Bandera Azul (BLUE FLAG) is a honor that schools in Costa Rica receive when they practice environmental and ecological education :) We also had the opportunity to speak with one of the school's coordinators, and we are in the process of planning to present the "Renewable vs. Non Renewable Energy" assembly there in August! 

~El Torito Charla de Energia- WAS a SUCCESS!

~NEW Volunteer from Austin College- Yanela arrives! She is here for 5 weeks in total! Next week is her last! OH how time flies!

~Computer Classes for El Torito and Samara continue to be a hit!

~The CREAR Bank and Tienda open! In the middle of June CREAR invented CREAR COLONES! These are coupons the students receive for attending course! If they come, complete the project and are well behaved they will receive a coupon for 1mil (1000 Colones), and if they act extra special; share, help clean up, etc. they receive a coupon for 2mil! Its been a lot of fun to talk about whats going to be in the "CREAR Tienda".  According to plan, once a month we will open the "tienda" and the students can bring their saved colones and buy a few things for themselves or for others! This great award system helps them be responsible CREAR Student and teaches them about saving and taking care of their "money" :)

~Public Wall Mosaic almost finished! Final touches (aka grouting) to be completed JULY 14th! But check out this article!

~Beach Cleanup on Friday July 1st a SUCCESS! With the help from Cherry Hill High School, we were not only able to get a large portion of the Mosaic wall completed but they help clean up the beach of SAMARA! Always a wonderful activity- its just a shame that it is needed...

~SAMARA Midyear CAMP- July 4th- July 8th - We could not have asked for better days! Paper mache maracas- Eco Walk- Surf Lesson- Driftwood art- and WILD GOOSE CHASE and POOL PARTY!
