June 2022 Student Art Expo at CREAR

On June 16th, we kept with tradition and held our 7th Art Expo in which we uplift our students and honor their art by transforming our office into a sophisticated, classy gallery that showcases all of the local art they created from across five continents, raising awareness and respect of other cultures within themselves and now within their community.

Over twenty families from both El Torito and Samara came with their CREAR students and sipped on coffee and tea as they perused around the gallery. Students proudly pointed out to their parents and family members the various projects they uniquely crafted over the course of the year as calming jazz music played on a speaker in the background. Paper Leaning Towers of Pisa, colorful painted Statues of Liberty, and cardboard totem poles were just a few of the many projects on display. After “visiting” all of the countries in the exhibit, students and families went to the outdoor classroom to stamp their “passports'' they designed earlier in the week. Outside, families visited with one another and students excitedly played soccer and ran around with a colorful Chinese dragon that the class recently made collectively.

This year at CREAR we are proud to be endorsed by the Costa Rican Ministry of Culture and they have enabled us to embark on an educational journey around the world using art and English to expand the horizons of our students. Through this journey and with each project, we opened their minds and created globally conscious individuals. It has been quite an adventure, and we congratulate all the little artists. You are an inspiration to us and we are very proud of you!

The families of the young artists enjoyed the trip around the world-class gallery, and we want to thank them for supporting their children in their artistic pursuits. We also want to extend a sincere thank you to Samara Adventure Company who graciously transported students and families to and from El Torito for the event. Furthermore, thank you so much to the 2022 Summer Interns and who worked hard all week to make the Art Expo become a reality.

Finally, we would like to thank each of you, our donors and supporters, for helping to make this project a reality.

El 16th de junio, nos mantuvimos con la tradición y tuvimos nuestra Expo de Arte 7th en la que elevamos a nuestros estudiantes y honramos su arte transformando nuestra oficina en una sofisticada y elegante galería que muestra todo el arte local que crearon en los cinco continentes, aumentar la conciencia y el respeto de otras culturas dentro de sí mismas y ahora dentro de su comunidad.

Más de veinte familias de El Torito y Samara vinieron con sus estudiantes CREARES y bebían café y té mientras perdía alrededor de la galería. Los estudiantes con orgullo señalaron a sus padres y miembros de la familia los diversos proyectos que ellos diseñaron de manera única a lo largo del año como música relajante del jazz tocaba en un altavoz en el fondo. Torres de Pisa, estatuas de la libertad pintadas de colores, y tótem de cartón fueron sólo algunos de los muchos proyectos que se exhiben. Después de “visitar” todos los países en la exposición, los estudiantes y las familias fueron a la clase al aire libre para sellar sus “pasaportes” que diseñaron a principios de la semana. Fuera, las familias se visitaron unas con otras y los estudiantes jugaban excitablemente el fútbol y corrieron alrededor con un dragón chino colorido que la clase hizo recientemente colectivamente.

Este año en CREAR estamos orgullosos de ser respaldados por el Ministerio de Cultura de Costa Rica y nos han permitido embarcarnos en un viaje educativo alrededor del mundo utilizando el arte y el inglés para expandir los horizontes de nuestros estudiantes. A través de este viaje y con cada proyecto, abrimos sus mentes y creamos individuos globalmente conscientes. Ha sido una gran aventura, y felicitamos a todos los pequeños artistas. Usted es una inspiración para nosotros y estamos muy orgullosos de usted! Las familias de los jóvenes artistas disfrutaron del viaje por la galería de clase mundial, y queremos darles las gracias por apoyar a sus hijos en sus actividades artísticas. También queremos expresar un sincero agradecimiento a Samara Adventure Company, quien amablemente transportó a estudiantes y familias a y desde El Torito para el evento. Además, muchas gracias a los pasantes de verano de 2022 y que trabajaron duro toda la semana para hacer que la Expo de Arte se convirtiera en una realidad.

Por último, queremos agradecer a cada uno de ustedes, a nuestros donantes y partidarios, por contribuir a que este proyecto sea una realidad.
