When Businesses do it Right: Thank You Travel for Teens!
Celebrating 10 Years of Valuable Collaboration Between Travel for Teens and Asociación CREAR!
It all started in 2013...
When Andrea had her first phone call with Marco from Travel for Teens during a vacation home to visit her family in Houston. The company was looking for community service projects for groups of travelers visiting Playa Sámara. Andrea & Johannah were hesitant about the collaboration at first due to prior negative experiences with other companies that had not valued their time. But Travel for Teens proved to share their community first mindset, and the collaboration was born. This was relatively new territory for the young CREAR directors and Marco, but there was plenty of work to do and they were happy to help connect volunteers with projects. Like so many new endeavors, this too had its kinks and it took CREAR a while to figure out how to maximize the impact in the community with a limited budget and un-experienced laborers. Andrea and Johannah leaned on their contacts in the community and found a variety of different ways in which the visiting teens could help make Playa Sámara a nicer place to live and visit.
In the ten years since Marco's first trip here with a small group of students, Travel for Teens volunteers have helped CREAR and Playa Sámara in so many ways. These kids have done everything from helping out with Art class to building gazebos in local parks. From Chinampas to El Torito, TFT volunteers have been leaving their mark on this region for many years now and we are all so grateful for their collaboration.
Besides the labor, Travel for Teens also donates to CREAR on a yearly basis, these financial contributions have been huge in helping our organization become a more consolidated, stable program. We are so grateful for this support!
During the 2023 community volunteer season we have collaborated with Travel for Teens groups more than ever before. In just 6 weeks our Assistant Director, Lucas & our Community Projects Foreman, Chema, lead 10 different groups with over 200 volunteers in total that made a massive impact across Sámara and El Torito. We repaired a damaged gazebo in Cantarana park, we repainted the entire El Torito community center, we gave the El Torito elementary school a new garden, and lent a helping hand with projects at the Matapalo Park, Samara Pacific School and beautified the CREAR facilities, among many other projects.
2023 was proof of how valuable long standing collaboration can be and we are infinitely grateful to Travel for Teens, and in particular Marco Ramos, for 10 years of loyalty and collaboration with Asociación CREAR!

Todo empezó en 2013...
Cuando Andrea tuvo su primera llamada telefónica con Marco de Travel for Teens durante una casa de vacaciones para visitar a su familia en Houston. La empresa buscaba proyectos de servicio comunitario para grupos de viajeros que visitaban Playa Sámara. Andrea y Johannah dudaron sobre la colaboración al principio debido a experiencias negativas previas con otras empresas que no habían valorado su tiempo. Pero Travel for Teens demostró compartir su primera mentalidad comunitaria y así nació la colaboración. Este era un territorio relativamente nuevo para los jóvenes directores de CREAR y Marco, pero había mucho trabajo por hacer y estaban felices de ayudar a conectar a los voluntarios con los proyectos. Como tantos nuevos emprendimientos, este también tuvo sus problemas y le tomó un tiempo a CREAR encontrar la manera de maximizar el impacto en la comunidad con un presupuesto limitado y trabajadores sin experiencia. Andrea y Johannah se apoyaron en sus contactos en la comunidad y encontraron una variedad de formas diferentes en las que los adolescentes visitantes podrían ayudar a hacer de Playa Sámara un lugar más agradable para vivir y visitar.
En los diez años transcurridos desde el primer viaje de Marco aquí con un pequeño grupo de estudiantes, los voluntarios de Travel for Teens han ayudado a CREAR y Playa Sámara de muchas maneras. Estos niños han hecho de todo, desde ayudar con la clase de arte hasta construir glorietas en los parques locales. Desde Chinampas hasta El Torito, los voluntarios de TFT llevan muchos años dejando su huella en esta región y todos estamos muy agradecidos por su colaboración.
Además de la mano de obra, Travel for Teens también dona a CREAR anualmente, estas contribuciones financieras han sido enormes para ayudar a nuestra organización a convertirse en un programa más consolidado y estable. ¡Estamos muy agradecidos por este apoyo!
Durante la temporada de voluntariado comunitario de 2023, hemos colaborado con los grupos Travel for Teens más que nunca. En solo 6 semanas recibimos 10 grupos diferentes con más de 200 voluntarios en total y tuvimos un impacto masivo en Sámara y El Torito. Reparamos una glorieta dañada en el parque Cantarana, repintamos todo el centro comunitario El Torito, le dimos un nuevo jardín a la escuela primaria El Torito, y echamos una mano con proyectos en el Parque Matapalo, Escuela Samara Pacífico y embellecimos las instalaciones del CREAR, entre muchos otros proyectos.
¡2023 fue una prueba de lo valiosa que puede ser una colaboración de larga data y estamos infinitamente agradecidos con Travel for Teens, y en particular con Marco Ramos, por 10 años de lealtad y colaboración con la Asociación CREAR!
